Sculpture
One of Rebecca Jarman’s main artistic practices is the medium of installations. She finds this particular medium the most compelling and effective way to introduce her audiences to a new idea, as they can visually interact with the art piece. Creating something visual tends to be the strongest, for her, when it is either in a sculptural or installation form. Giving ideas, data, and theories a visual language helps engage them with wider audiences and gives art a role in socio-cultural life. Jarman’s artistic process usually begins with concepts that she feels are particularly pertinent or need to be given a more public platform. She takes her research and synthesises it into an art installation, giving it a contemporary twist. Jarman likes to draw on contemporary research and theory from sociologists, economists, scientists and many more, often tying their work to feminist theories.
