Unmasking Of Sexual Identity, 2021

Sculpture and Video

Megan works with different media to create sculpture-based artworks that open taboos formed by society to create a world where we can openly talk about our problems.

Learning self-love and knowing that you are accepted can be difficult, especially within a society that avoids conversations allowing you to learn about yourself. This work explores ways we can start talking about masturbation, sex and how we look. As adults, we either feel ashamed of acting on self-love or ignore how we feel towards our bodies. Her work aims to open the conversation up between adults and help start the conversation with children.

This work is the start of a practice that will continue delving into conscious raising groups' research to talk to others about their experiences with their bodies.
