Jasmine Summers

Being trapped inside, 2021

Image stills with audio and wallpaper backgrounding.

The piece represents The Everyday through our lockdown spaces. Exploring the theme of the uncanny by seeing something in a new perspective. The work acts as a response when people were trapped and had very little real-life communication with the world and had to find other ways to communicate through digital technology. The public has been in participation with the project to share their thoughts on the ongoing pandemic.

The source of Jasmine’s work is created through observation of every day in our lockdown spaces and our homes. The work is created through digital media, including photography and video. Jasmine likes to experiment with turning her ideas into unexpected creations. Using various research, Jasmine doesn’t limit herself but lets the materials work with her through the process. Jasmine’s work consists of changed imagery and sounds that are recognisable. This is a contrast of ideas but helps balance the real and unexpected together. The ability to see something in a way we may not be able to see before.
