Walk with Dementia, 2021

Interactive installation, VR headset

A refined look into the complex world of Dementia sufferers. An interactive, thought-provoking experience that explores the symptoms experienced by sufferers on a daily basis. Including: disorientation, mobility issues and the diminished ability to formulate sentence and speak fluently.

Catherine Jordan is an artist who predominantly works in digital forms of media. Including, but not confined to, digital drawings, photography and immersive video experiences. Her work is highly conceptual based and personally driven. Exploring the meaning and influence that specific experiences can have on an individual.

In most recent years, she has geared her focus towards using art to educate and bring awareness to specific mental health conditions, such as Dementia. To date, she has explored this field through digital drawings, immersive video and interactive installations, including this exhibition, where she has created an interactive experience that puts the observer into a Dementia-like state—producing feelings of confusion, disorientation and the inability to formulate sentences accurately.
